The Jing-Mei White Terror Memorial Park sits next to the Xiulang Bridge in Xindian District, New Taipei City. The site was first used by the Military Law School of the Ministry of National Defense. Later, the complex was shared by the Military Law Division of Taiwan Garrison Command, Bureau of Military Law and Bureau of Military Law Review of Ministry of National Defense and detention center and military courts were set up. Political prisoners were detained, prosecuted, tried and imprisoned here.
The Ren-Ai Building served as a detention center for political prisoners, while the First Court and the Military Court were utilized for trials. The Historical Scenarios of the White Terror in Taiwan exhibition held in the barracks can offer visitors an overview of the historical background of White Terror, negative heritage and the key objectives which transitional justice attempts to achieve. Special exhibitions are organized in the park from time to time, offering different aspects and perspectives, to help visitors gain an in-depth understanding of the White Terror period.
