New Life Correction Center, from 1951 to 1970, was a concentration camp where the victims was imprisoned and forced to take ideological transformation courses during the White Terror Period. The new lifers, officers or soldiers who might have died of illnesses, old age, accidents, committing suicide, were buried here if they had no relatives in Taiwan. Because there were 12 squadrons under New Life Correction Center, the political victims call this cemetery “13th Squadron,” where now is major location of condolence, pondering and memory when they return to Green Island.
