The Special Observation and Medical Room was between the outer wall and the solitary confinement cellsT. Inmates who got sick or developed psychological disorders, or who were difficult to control , would be brought here. Prison officials would evaluate them and then isolate them in solitary confinement or, after initial treatment, send them to Taitung for further treatment.
