3rd squadron Chungshan Barrack
Barracks was constructed by the political prisoners of coral rock they quarried at the seashore. It served for the storage of grain and farm tools and the raising of domestic animals, and as an auditorium and briefing room for the different brigades. There were more than 100 of these barracks of all shapes and sizes in those days; most of them had thatch roofs and coral stone walls, long since weathered into decrepitude What we see today is their restored facades. In the prison days this Chungshan Room was used by prison officials to hold meetings, and also as a reading room where prisoners could read censored newspapers.
